Mayor Arlene Mulder Named to Metra Board
Sept. 8, 2005 - Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder was named to Metra's board of directors today. Mayor Mulder has been active on mass transit issues for many years and most recently has been a member of the Star Line steering committee and a vocal opponent of regulations that would increase train whistle noise. She is also involved in the Chicago Area Transit Study. Mulder represents suburban Cook County on the Metra Board of Directors.
Mayor Arlene Mulder Re-elected
April 5, 2005 - Arlene J. Mulder was re-elected to a fourth term as Arlington Heights Village President, today. Mulder, who was unopposed on the ballot, received more votes than any other candidate running for local office in Arlington Heights. Mulder received 8,810 votes on Election Day.
Mulder thanked her supporters and her campaign committee at an election night celebration at the Wellington Restaurant in Arlington Heights. "I'm grateful to all the citizens of Arlington Heights who continue to place their trust and confidence in me." said Mulder. "It's a real privilege to serve our wonderful community."
Three incumbent village trustees, Bert Rosenberg, Joe Farwell and Virginia Kucera, along with former trustee Norman Breyer, also won. Mulder had endorsed all four candidates.

January 24, 2005 [Reston, VA] —The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is pleased to announce that Arlene J. Mulder, Mayor, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Chairperson of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, is the recipient of the 2005 Jay Hollingsworth Speas Airport Award. The honor also includes $10,000, which Mayor Mulder is dividing equally between two local organizations, Northwest Community Hospital and The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre.
Co-sponsored by the American Associate of Airport Executives, the Airports
Consultants Council, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics, the Jay Hollingsworth Speas Airport Award is presented to the person or persons judged to have
contributed most outstandingly during the recent past towards achieving
compatible relationships between airports and/or heliports and adjacent
environments.
Mayor Mulder is being honored for extraordinary leadership and personal initiative in educating the public, manufacturers, regulators and researchers about the impacts of noise; helping disparate groups to reach consensus on mitigation goals; and guiding and promoting funding of noise abatement research and development through participation in national and international advisory groups. The award will be presented to her on 24 February 2005 during the AAAE/ACC 2005 Airport Planning, Design, and Construction Symposium, at the Reno Hilton, in Reno, Nevada.
In 1997, Mayor Mulder was elected by other local government leaders in the Chicago area to serve as chair of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission, a regional commission created to help solve the aircraft noise problems at the “World’s Busiest Airport.” She has been re-elected to that position every year since and is now an internationally recognized leader on aircraft noise mitigation issues. Mulder was born in California and received her B.A. in Biology and Physical Education from San Francisco State University. Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder Seeks Re-election
(ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL) --- October 12, 2004 --- Arlington Heights Village President ("Mayor") Arlene J. Mulder announced today that she will seek re-election to a fourth term. The campaign kickoff took place before a crowd of supporters at the Arlington Heights Historical Society Museum.
"It's been an honor to serve the residents of Arlington Heights for the past 12 years. I love the job and want to keep doing it," Mulder said. "While I've been fortunate to work with so many dedicated and talented individuals at all levels of government to get so much accomplished, there are still some things that I'd like to tackle."
Mulder was first elected Arlington Heights Village President in 1993 after serving as a village trustee for two years. Prior to that, she served on the Arlington Heights Park Board for ten years. (Please see biography.)
During her service to Arlington Heights, Mulder has established an enviable record of achievement, including controls on property taxes, while promoting outstanding redevelopment projects throughout the village.
"Now, one of the challenges that our community faces is furthering new development, while keeping existing projects like the central business district vibrant and productive." Mulder said. "This is among my priorities with the constant goal to preserve and enhance the quality of life for Arlington Heights families."
Arlene Mulder Gains Endorsements of Two Major Illinois Lawmakers
(ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL) --- October 12, 2004 -- Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene J. Mulder was endorsed for re-election today by State Sen. Wendell Jones (R) 27th District and State Representative Sidney Mathias (R) 53rd District. Both veteran lawmakers praised Mulder for her experienced leadership in announcing their support at her campaign kickoff at the Arlington Heights Historical Society.
"There is not a finer mayor in the Northwest suburbs, or a harder working mayor than Arlene Mulder." said Mathias.
Retired State Senator and Arlington Heights resident Virginia MacDonald was named honorary campaign chairperson for Mulder's re-election bid.
"I'm delighted to serve once again as Arlene Mulder's honorary campaign chairperson," said MacDonald. "She has been a wonderful mayor for our town with tremendous vision and an outstanding ability to communicate to people of all ages."
MacDonald cited the establishment of the Arlington Heights Citizen Corps Council and the production of the emergency preparedness videotape as recent examples of Mulder's leadership.
