Q.  Why is Arlene called mayor when her official title is president?

A.  While it is true that Arlington Heights does not have a mayor form of government, there is a long tradition of village board presidents being called "Mayor." It is a title often used by municipal officials in surrounding communities. In addition, Arlene represents the village on the state and national levels where the title of mayor is more readily understood than village president.
